Description:

This Fang head once adorned a cylindrical barrel made of the bark of teh Ficus in which from ten to fifteen craniums of the deceased were kept. The statue has its own power apart from its relation to the ancestral spirit. The barrels with this statue or head was kept in a special hut guarded by the elders of the family or tribe. The hut was also used by adolescents in their initiation ceremony so as to put them in touch with the ancestral spirit.
